37th Excellent-Show in Leer
Who will be the next Grand Champion?
On Wednesday, March 8, 2017 at 9:30 am the Ostfrieslandhalle in Leer opens her gates to celebrate the 37th Excellent-Show. Admission to the show is free.
The evening before the show, on Tuesday, March 7, the open barn at 6:30 pm gives interested visitors the opportunity to already get a picture of participating cows and to choose their first choice for the Grand Champion election. At 7 pm the young breeder’s showmanship competition starts. Judge Bettina Hüske from Südlohn (North Rhine-Westphalia) has to elect the two best young breeders of each age group who qualify for the national showmanship competition at the DHV-Show in Oldenburg in June. Afterwards, at 8:30pm, VOST invites interested breeders to attend the breeder’s convention.
On Wednesday the main day of the show starts at 9:30 am. After welcoming guests from all over the world, the show starts with the presentation of progeny groups that give an impression of how progeny of popular breeding bulls look like. This helps breeders to decide which sire is the most interesting one for their business. Second topic of the event programme is the public excellent classification.
More than 150 cows will participate in about 15 different Holstein classes. Highlight will be the election of the Grand Champion 2017, the Miss Ostfriesland, at 2:30 pm after the public excellent classification. Judge Cord Hormann from Warmsen will have to choose the winning cow out of the participants.
